For Tours to Mount Kailash, Mount Everest, Kangsung Valley, Rawok Lake will take around 25-30 days advance booking to obtain the Tibet Travel Permit. 

For other Tours will take around 15-20 days advance booking to obtain the Tibet Travel Permit.

Normally it is much safer to book the Tour in advance.

Even though Tibet Tourism Office accept the papers for Tibet Travel Permit around a month in advance but only around 5-10 days before the trip, Tibet Travelers will get the Tibet Travel Permit so Travelers will get the Tibet Travel Permit around 5-10 days before the entering date to Tibet.

Not all the places in Tibet are available for Travelers to visit. Some areas in Western Tibet Changtang prefecture, some areas in Tsetang prefecture and some areas in Nyingchi prefecture, some areas in Nakchu and some areas in Chamdo are not available for Travelers at the moment.
