Detail Itinerary

Day1.Arrival in Lhasa [3,700m] 

Upon arrival in Lhasa (3700m), you will be welcomed by your English-speaking Tibetan Guide and Tibetan Driver, and we will bring you to your hotel.

Overnight at 3-star Shambhala Hotel or Gold star Shambhala Palace or 3-star Kyichu Hotel, located in the heart of Lhasa city 200 meters from Jokhang Temple


Day2.Lhasa Sightseeing  [3,700m] 

After breakfast, you will visit the Jokhang, the holiest Buddhist temple in the Himalayas. Each day, many thousands of Buddhist pilgrims come here to worship. Many have traveled well over a thousand kilometers by foot to see this 1400-year-old temple. After lunch, you will visit the 600-year-old massive monastery complex of Sera. While at Sera, you watch the monks engage in entertaining Buddhist philosophical debates. In the evening, you will have free time to wander around the Old Town alone.

Day3.Lhasa Sightseeing  [3,700m] 

Today, we visited the beautiful Potala and Norbulingka Palaces. Potala Palace is the Winter Palace, built in the 17th century by the fifth Dalai Lama. It provides fantastic views of the entire city and houses the private quarters of the Dalai Lama, numerous grand staterooms, and chapels. Norbulingka Palace is the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, built in the 18th century by the seventh Dalai Lama.

Day4.Lhasa / Yamdrok Lake / Gyantse / Shigatse (300km, 3,900m) 

Today, we drive approximately 290km, first stopping along the banks of Yamdrok-Tso, the sparkling turquoise lake, for photos. After, on the way to Gyantse, we crossed Kampa-la (5050 m) and Karo-la Pass (5045 m) to view the Mount Nojin Kangtsen Glacier falling near the road. Upon arriving in Gyantse (3950m), we visit the seven-story-tall Kubum Stupa and Pelkor Chode Monastery. Also, we admire the Gyantse Dzong (fort) overlooking Gyangste, which is famous for the British military siege led by Colonel Younghusband in 1903. We drive 90km from Gyangtse to Shigatse (3900m).

Day5.Shigatse / Sakya monastery / Old Tingri  (350km, 4,400m) 

  After breakfast, we visited the Tashilhunpo Monastery to see the future Buddha’s golden shrine. The Tashilhunpo Monastery is the seat of the Panchen Lama, the 2nd highest in the Tibetan Buddhist religious hierarchy. We also visited Shigatse Market and viewed the panorama of Shigatse Dzong (fort), whose architecture is reminiscent of the Potala Palace. We leave Shigatse in the afternoon and visit Sakya monastery on the way to Sheger. We drive to Shegar across Tsou-la Pass (4500m) and Gyatso-la Pass (5220m); with good weather, you can see your first views of Mt. Everest. In the evening, we arrive at Old Tingri. (4300m).

Day6.Old Tingri / Trek to Lungthang 

Our trekking begins in Old Tingri, and we start by going through the Tingri plain. Along with a part of the Ra-chu Valley, we will see the beautiful valley scenery with extensive meadows and flocks of sheep and goats. Throughout the day, we can visit a small gompa in Chholun. After 12km and 5 hours of trekking, the night will be spent in a comfortable campsite in Lunthang (4510m). This remote region is home only to herders and barley harvesters. Overnight in Lunthang.

Day7.Lungthang / Trek to Lamna-La pass

The challenging trekking starts today as we go up into the mountains. Much uphill walking is done as we climb toward Lamna-la (5150m). After trekking for 8 hours, covering 21km, we stayed beyond the top of this pass. Overnight at Lamna-la Pass.

Day8.Lamna-La pass / Trek to Zommug

In the morning, we descend steeply into lush vegetation. The only other people we will encounter will be yak herders and their families. The camp will be in the small village of Zommug (4790m). Indeed, amazing views can be seen as the sun sets in this barren town. Overnight in Zommug.

Day9.Zommug / Trek to Rongbuk monastery / Everest base camp 

On our last day of trekking, we will wind our way to the end destination of Rongbuk Everest Base Camp. Along the way, we can also visit the Dza Rongbuk monastery and the meditation cave at the upper Rongbuk monastery.

Overnight at tea tent dormitory or off-season from November to March at Rongbuk monastery dormitory (No private bathroom and no shower)

Day10. Everest base camp to Shigatse or Kyirong Nepal border town  (280km, 3,900m) 

Travel back to Lhasa or 

Travelers planning to travel back to Lhasa: Today, Travelers will drive from Mount Everest base camp to Shigatse, which is 340km with a driving duration of around 7-8 hours.

Travel to Nepal 

Travelers planning to travel to Nepal today will drive from Mount Everest base camp to Kyirong town via Old Tingri and Phikutso Lake and view Mount Cho ou yo and Mount Shishapangma. (8012) The only mountain fully planted in Tibet.

Day11. Shigatse / Lhasa ( Travel back to Lhasa or Kyirong / Cross border to Nepal )

Travel back to Lhasa or 

Travel back to Lhasa from Shigatse through the northern Friendship highway, which is 280km with a driving duration of 5 hours.

Travel to Nepal

Travelers planning to travel to Nepal Today will drive from Kyirong town to the Nepal border bridge between Rasuwa town via crossing the border and journey to Kathmandu. 


Day12. Transfer to Lhasa airport or train station 


Good morning. Lhasa airport or train station is dropping off. The time comes to say farewell to your guide and driver.
