Day1. Lhasa Arrival [3700m]

Upon arrival in Lhasa, you will be welcomed by your English-speaking Tibetan Guide and Tibetan Driver, who will bring you to your hotel. Acclimatization to high altitude: Please drink lots of water and take plenty of rest to minimize altitude sickness.

Day2. Lhasa Sightseeing [3700m]

We began visiting Jokhang Temple, the most sacred monastery in Tibet. It was founded in the 7th century by the first great Buddhist king, Songtsen Gampo. Later, you can explore the surrounding Barkhor Old Quarter and walk around Jokhang Temple, following pilgrims from all over the Tibetan plateau. In the afternoon, we go to Sera Monastery, one of the three great universities of Gelugpa Sect. We will attend the monks' debating session.

Day3. Lhasa Sightseeing [3700m]

Today, we visited the beautiful Potala and Norbulingka Palaces. The fifth Dalai Lama built the Potala Winter Palace in the 17th century. It provides fantastic views of the entire city and houses the private quarters of the Dalai Lama, numerous grand staterooms, and chapels. Norbulingka Palace is the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, built in the 18th century by the seventh Dalai Lama. It’s tradition to picnic in its beautiful garden and perform opera dances during the Shoton Festival (August-September).

Day4. Lhasa – Shigatse [354Km, 3900m]

The adventure starts: we drive West to reach the second-largest city in Tibet. At first, we cross Kampa-la Pass [4797m] and then Karo-la Pass [5050m], where Mt. Noijin Kangsang [7206m] glacier lies near the road. In the middle, we enjoy the unreal turquoise waters of the holy lake Yamdrok-Tso. Then we stopped in Gyantse town, where we visited the considered best Tibetan art paintings in Kumbum Stupa inside Pelkor Chode Monastery. Also, we admire the majestic Gyantse Dzong (fortress) overlooking the valley. Finally, we reached Shigatse before dinner.

Day5. Shigatse – New Tingri [250Km, 4300m]

The journey to New Tingri involves crossing the high pass of Gyatso La [5220m] and the opportunity to view Mt. Everest and the Himalayas for the first time. Before, we visited Sakya Monastery, the principal seat of the Sakyapa Sect, founded in 1073 and one of four primary schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Its Mongolian architecture is different from that of temples we have seen before.

Day6. New Tingri – Rongbuk [120Km, 5000m]

Today is an exhilarating day as we head towards Rongbuk Monastery, situated at the base of Mount Everest and renowned as the world's highest monastery. The picturesque Pang-la Pass [5150m] offers breathtaking panoramas of prominent peaks including Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Everest. After Gawu La, you will proceed to Tashizom town to switch to a nonpollution bus and travel to Rongphu, the renowned monastery perched at nearly 5000 meters above sea level. The iconic view of Mount Everest from Rongphu is a defining moment of this journey. The next stop is the Tent Hotels, operating from mid-April to mid-October. The distance from Pelber to the Everest region spans 100 kilometers, with an approximate travel time of 4 hours.

Day7. Everest Base Camp – Saga [300Km, 4490m]

In the morning, we reached one of the major highlights of our trip, Mount Everest North Base Camp [5250m] (trekking or taking the bus). After spending some time at the base of Mt. Everest, we drove northwest, crossing high passes with enchanting views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks like Shishapangma and wild Peikutso Lake. Stay overnight in Saga town. [300 km, 4490m]

Day8. Saga – Darchen [490Km, 4556m]

Today, we enter the semi-nomadic regions of Tibet’s far west. We will enjoy the authentic Tibetan landscapes during this long journey through the world's biggest and highest plateau. We follow the Yarlung Tsampo River West (also called the Brahmaputra in India) until Lake Manasarovar, one of Tibet's three most sacred lakes. Hindus believe whoever bathes in it will clean all their sins and provide good karma. Drive 30km to Darchen.

Day9. Day hike near Mount Kailash

Today, we will have a free day in Darchen town, the nearest city to Mount Kailash. There are a few options: hike to Gangdrak monastery to see the view of Mount Kailash or hike to Serlung to witness the beauties of Mount Kailash.

Day10. Darchen - Tada [270Km, 3800m]

Today, let's set off on an exciting journey to Tada town, Tsanda, or Tsaparang, just around 20km away from the Guge Kingdom area. In Tada, we'll explore the fascinating Toling Monastery and the historical Guge Kingdom and stay the night at Tada town.

Day11. Tada - Lake Manasarovar  [300Km, 4400m]

Today, we're heading back to the serene Lake Manasarovar near Darchen. Our cozy accommodation for the night will be at the Chiu monastery in a charming local guest house.

Day12. Lake Manasarovar - Saga  [460Km, 4400m]

Let's continue our adventure after a refreshing morning at Lake Manasarovar! Our next stop is Saga town, a scenic drive of about 400km. Along the way, we'll make a few delightful photo stops to capture the stunning dunes and beautiful landscapes.

Day13. Saga - Shigatse  [450Km, 3900m]

Saga, a quaint town near the Mount Kailash area. The scenic journey from Saga to Namring offers captivating beauty on the northern path. En route to Shigatse, we will marvel at the distant Namring Lake and traverse the charming town of Lhatse.

Day14. Shigatse – Lhasa  [280Km, 3700m]

Today, you will visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, built in the 15th century by the first Dalai Lama. Nowadays, the seat of the Panchen Lama. We recommend that you do Kora around Tashilhunpo Monastery. Also, you can walk around the local market after driving back to Lhasa through the Southern Friendship Highway.
