Day1. Lhasa Arrival [3700m]

Upon arrival in Lhasa, you will be welcomed by your English-speaking Tibetan Guide and Tibetan Driver, who will bring you to your hotel. Acclimatization to high altitude: Please drink lots of water and take plenty of rest to minimize altitude sickness.

Day2. Lhasa Sightseeing [3700m]

Our journey commenced with a visit to Jokhang Temple, the holiest sanctuary in Tibet, established in the 7th century by Songtsen Gampo. Subsequently, immerse yourself in the historic ambiance of Barkhor Old Quarter surrounding the temple, tracing the footsteps of pilgrims spanning the Tibetan plateau. In the afternoon, we proceed to Sera Monastery, one of Gelugpa Sect's esteemed triumvirate of universities, to engage in the monks' spirited debates.

Day3. Lhasa Sightseeing [3700m]

Today, we visited the beautiful Potala and Norbulingka Palaces. Potala Palace is the Winter Palace, built in the 17th century by the fifth Dalai Lama. It provides fantastic views of the entire city and houses the Dalai Lama's private quarters, numerous grand staterooms, and chapels. Norbulingka Palace is the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, built in the 18th century by the seventh Dalai Lama.

Day4. Lhasa – Shigatse [350Km, 3900m]

Our adventure begins as we head west towards the vibrant city of Tibet's travel sites. Firstly, we traverse the majestic Kampa-la Pass [4797m] and then the breathtaking Karo-la Pass [5050m], where the enchanting Mt. Noijin Kangsang glacier adorns the roadside. Amidst our journey, we are captivated by the mesmerizing turquoise waters of the sacred Yamdrok-Tso lake.

Our journey includes a stop in Gyantse town to explore the renowned Tibetan art paintings at Kumbum Stupa within Pelkor Chode Monastery. We also marvel at the impressive Gyantse Dzong, which offers a panoramic view of the valley. Our day concludes as we arrive in Shigatse before dinner.

Day5. Shigatse – New Tingri [250Km, 4300m]

As you make your way to New Tingri, you'll have the exciting experience of crossing the high pass of Gyatso La [5220m] and catching your very first glimpse of Mt. Everest and the stunning Himalayas. Prior to that, we explored Sakya Monastery, which serves as the central hub of the Sakyapa Sect, established back in 1073 as one of the four primary schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The influential abbots of Sakya Monastery ruled over Tibet during the 13th century until the Gelukpa Sect overshadowed them. The unique Mongolian architectural style of the monastery sets it apart from the temples we've encountered so far.

Day6. New Tingri – Rongbuk [120Km, 5100m]

From Gawu La, you will then go to Tashizom town, where you will change your vehicle to a nonpollution bus and reach Rongphu, the highest monastery in the world at just under 5000 meters in elevation. The iconic view of Mount Everest North Face from here will be a high point of your journey! You will then continue to the Tent Hotels, which operate from mid-April through mid-October. The driving distance from Pelber to the Everest area is 100 kilometers, with a driving time of around 4 hours.

Day7. Everest Base Camp – Saga [300Km, 4500m]

We reached the North Base Camp of Mt. Everest at 5250m in the morning after a journey from Tashizom village, 30km away, using an eco bus. After exploring the base of Mt. Everest, our route turned northwest towards Old Tingri. Along the way, we crossed high passes with stunning views of Himalayan peaks like Shishapangma and the wild Peikutso Lake.

Day8. Saga – Darchen [490Km, 4500m]

Today, we enter the semi-nomadic regions of Tibet’s far west. We will enjoy the authentic Tibetan landscapes during this long journey through the world's biggest and highest plateau. We follow the Yarlung Tsangpo River until Mapham Yumtso Lake Manasarovar, one of Tibet's three most sacred lakes. Hindus believe whoever bathes in it will clean all their sins and provide good karma. Drive 30km to Darchen.

Day9. Trek To Dira-Puk Monastery [20Km, 5-6h, 5050m]

Our journey commences in Darchen town, following a narrow path in a clockwise loop around Mount Kailash at an altitude averaging 4700 m over a distance of 20 km. Along the route, you will encounter Buddhist pilgrims performing kora and Bon pilgrims traveling in the opposite direction.

After a 4-hour trek, we will arrive at Tamdin (4780m) where nomadic tents provide simple meals and boiling water. Only 4 km away lies Dirapuk monastery, surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery along the entire kora. Reconstructed in 1985, Dirapuk sits on the north bank of the Lha-Chu River, with views of the north face of Mt. Kailash. The name Dirapuk originates from 'Dira,' meaning female yak horn, and 'Puk,' meaning cave; according to legend, a female yak discovered the cave.

Day10. Trek To Zutul Puk Monastery, [18Km, 6-8h, 4820m]

Today is the most challenging part of the trek, where we will cross two passes; though they are not too steep, the altitude is the main reason for the tiring and slow. The duration is 18 km, and the altitude is 4790 meters. After we cross Dikpyala 5000 m & Dromala 5500 m, the passes are remarked by heaps of prayer flags and Cairns. Spending some minutes on the pass to view and relax is worth it, as you are on the backside of Mt. Kailash, and it offers a great view of Mount Kailash.

After the pass, you will hike down the long valley and stop for lunch at the Shabjay Dakpo nomadic tent. Zuktrulpuk Monastery 4790 m, also known as the miracle cave, was built by two religious figures, Buddhist Jetsun Milarepa and Bon Jetsun Naro Bonchung. You can witness the spiritual beauty footprint and handprint of Jetsun Milarepa inside the meditation cave.

Day11. Trek To Darchen - Tada  

Today marks the easiest trekking day, covering 14 km from Zutrulpuk monastery to Darchen town. The trail primarily consists of hiking at a nearly consistent altitude of approximately 4500m. After arriving in Darchen and having a meal, we will proceed to Tada, known by various names such as Tsanda or Tsaparang. [270Km, 3700m]

Day12. Tada - Tadapuri - Lake Manasarovar 

Today, we're all set to head from Tada, Tsaparang town to Lake Manasarovar near the Chiu monastery for an overnight stay. Along the way, we'll explore the Tadapuri hot spring and the monastery. [300Km, 4500m]

Day13. Lake Manasarovar - Saga town  

Let's head over to Saga town after a delightful morning at Lake Manasarovar, where we'll have a blast exploring the beauty of the lake. The journey covers about 460km, during which we'll make pit stops to capture stunning snapshots of dunes and mesmerizing natural scenery. [4500m]

Day14. Saga Town - Shigatse  [450Km, 3900m]

Saga is a charming town close to the stunning Mount Kailash area. Starting from Saga, we'll take a scenic drive through the northern route to Namring, soaking in the gorgeous landscape. Our day will end in Shigatse for a restful night.

Day15. Shigatse / Nyemo Valley / Damxung Town

After breakfast, drive to Nyemo Valley to see nomads and farmers and nature; no tourists (this will be a highlight for the day, so you can spend lots of time and then drive to Yangpachen hot spring pool and you can decide whether to go to or not by paying entrance fees directly at there and move to Damxung on the way you will see Mt. Tanggu-la (7500m)and stay a night in a 2-star hotel. [4,400m], 360Km, around 7 hours.

7 Days a week in Tibet travel

Day16. Damxung / Namtso Lake / Lhasa

After breakfast, drive through grasslands to Namtso Lake, “Heavenly Lake.” Before getting to the lake, we will go through the (Largen la pass (5200m) to see the view of the lake from far away and then still drive about 35km to reach the Lake. Spend the afternoon along the lakeside, and later go back to Lhasa.  Happy nomad families dwelled in their cozy yak wool tents on the grassy pastures, and some close to the road were visitable for having a new experience; before reaching Lhasa, the fertile valleys are nice looking with villages and their orthogonal fields.  [3,650m], 310Km, 6-7hours.

Day17. Lhasa Airport / Train Station Dropping Off 

Good morning. Lhasa airport or train station is dropping off. The time comes to say farewell to your guide and driver.
