This journey will start by exploring the holy city of Lhasa. You will see the main Buddhist sites in the town including Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Norbulingka Palace, and the Potala Palace.  You will also be able to explore the Old Town of Lhasa and rub shoulders with some of the thousands of pilgrims who are here each day. Altogether, you will spend three nights in Lhasa.

Next, you will make the scenic drive to Shigatse going via Yamdrok Lake, Karo La Glacier, and the Gyantse Kumbum Stupa.

From Shigatse, you will travel back to Lhasa via the Northern friendship highway driving near the Yarlung Tsangpo river.

On the morning of the 6th day, you will travel to the Lhasa airport or train station where the tour concludes.

Day1. Pick Up From Airport Or Train Station And Transfer To Hotel


Upon your arrival at Lhasa airport or train station, you will be greeted by your Tibetan guide, from the airport to Lhasa city is 60km, around an hour drive will take you to the holy city Lhasa. Driving along the Brahmaputra river and Lhasa river. If you take the train to Lhasa, normally you will arrive in the late afternoon or evening, 20 minutes drive will take you to your hotel in Lhasa city. Check into the hotel, have a good rest to acclimatize the high altitude.

Day2. Lhasa City Sightseeing, Visit Jokhang Temple And Sera Monastery(B)


After breakfast, you will visit the Jokhang, the holiest Buddhist temple in all of the Himalayas. Each day, many thousands of Buddhist pilgrims come here to worship. Many have traveled well over a thousand kilometers by foot to see this 1400-year-old temple. After lunch, you will visit the 600-year-old huge monastery complex of Sera. While at Sera, you watch the monks engage in entertaining Buddhist philosophical debates. In the evening, you will have free time to wander around the Old Town on your own.

Day3. Lhasa City Sightseeing, Visit Norbulingka Palace, Potala Palace (B)


Today you will start your day by visiting the massive 1000 room Potala Palace, the most iconic building in Tibet. You will work your way up the steps of the Potala and then go through the most important rooms in this famous UNESCO site. After lunch, you will explore the beauties of the summer palace of Dalai Lama ( Norbulingka Palace ) after visiting many monasteries, its a great option to visit summer palace where Travelers can visit more than three palaces. In the late afternoon and evening, you will have free time to explore Lhasa on your own.

Day4. Lhasa Yamdrok Lake Karo La Glacier Gyantse Shigatse


You will depart Lhasa in the early morning and drive through the scenic Yarlung River Valley towards Yamdrok Lake. Yamdrok is one of Tibet’s 4 main holy lakes and is regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in the Himalaya. From the Kamba La Pass, you get a panoramic view of this spectacular lake with the nearby mountains. Next, you will drive along the lake shore to Nankartse, where you will stop for lunch. Next, you will begin ascending again to the stunning Karo La Glacier. Here, you can get an up-close view of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang and the glaciers coming off of it.

We visit the Ralung monastery, which was once the biggest Buddhist college in Tibet and home of many great Tibetan Yogis from Drukpa Kagyu sect including Jetsun Ling Repa, Jetsun Tsangpa Gyare, Jetsun Tsang Nyon, Jetsun U Nyon, Jetsun Drukpa Kunley. They are no tourist and sometimes not even locals so Ralung monastery is one of the most peaceful monasteries with beautiful landscape.

Your next stop is the pleasant town of Gyantse where you will visit the massive Gyantse Kumbum Stupa as well as the Pelkhor Chode Monastery. You will then continue to Shigatse, elevation 3840 meters, and stay at the 4 Star Gesar Hotel. Total driving distance is 350 kilometers. Total driving time is 7 hours

Day5. Shigatse Lhasa


After breakfast, you will exploreShigatse. You will then follow the beautiful Yarlung River back to Lhasa. The distance from Shigatse to Lhasa is 270 kilometers and the driving time is around 6 hours.

Day6. Depart Lhasa


Morning Lhasa airport or train station dropping off, the time comes to say your farewells to your guide and driver, end the trip.
