9-Day Tibet spiritual Lakes hikes tour

We'll start by exploring the charming Old Town of Lhasa and mingle with the friendly pilgrims who flock here daily. We'll spend three nights here, soaking up the atmosphere. Next, we will journey through Nyemo Valley to explore undiscovered villages and traditional Tibetan incense houses. We will then continue through the picturesque valley to reach Damxung town for an overnight stay. The following day, we will marvel at the breathtaking Namtso Lake at an elevation of 4700 meters, taking the opportunity for a brief hike around its shores before returning to Lhasa. Day1. Arrive in Lhasa (3700m)

You will be met at the Lhasa airport or train station by your Tibetan guide and transferred to the Shambhala Palace, located in the Old Town of Lhasa, at an elevation of 3600 meters. You can then explore the nearby Old Town of Lhasa and the markets lining Barkhor Square.

Day2. Lhasa Sightseeing (3700m)

After breakfast, you will visit the Jokhang, the holiest Buddhist temple in the Himalayas. Each day, many thousands of Buddhist pilgrims come here to worship. Many have traveled well over a thousand kilometers by foot to see this 1400-year-old temple. After lunch, you will visit the 600-year-old massive monastery complex of Sera. While at Sera, you watch the monks engage in entertaining Buddhist philosophical debates. In the evening, you will have free time to wander around the Old Town alone.

Day3. Lhasa Sightseeing (3700m)

In Lhasa (3700m), we tour the Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama, built in the 17th century by the fifth Dalai Lama, and Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, made in the 18th century by the seventh Dalai Lama.

Day4. Lhasa / Gyantse / Shigatse

You will depart Lhasa in the early morning and drive through the scenic Yarlung River Valley toward Yamdrok Lake. Yamdrok is one of Tibet’s four leading holy lakes and is regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in the Himalayas. You get a panoramic view of this spectacular lake with the nearby mountains from the Kamba La Pass. Next, you will drive along the lakeshore to Nankartse, where you will stop for lunch and visit the Samding nunnery with the grand home of Samding Dorje Phakmo, a female practitioner. It is said that the first Samding Dorje Phakmo has never lied down in her whole life, even at night; her diligence is the reason behind her spiritual accomplishment.

Next, you will begin ascending again to the stunning Karo La Glacier. Here, you can get an up-close view of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang and the glaciers coming off of it. We visit the Ralung monastery, which was once the most prominent Buddhist college in Tibet and home of many great Tibetan Yogis from the Drukpa Kagyu sect, including Jetsun Ling Repa, Jetsun Tsangpa Gyare, Jetsun Tsang Nyon, Jetsun U Nyon, Jetsun Drukpa Kunley. They are no tourists and sometimes not even locals, so Ralung Monastery is one of the most peaceful monasteries with beautiful landscapes. After Ralung, we drive through the beautiful valley, enjoying the views of lovely villages and arriving at our next destination, the pleasant town of Gyantse. Late afternoon travel to Shigatse with a driving duration of 1 hour 10 minutes through the beautiful farming culture in Tibet. ( 310km ) 8hrs ( 3950m)

Shigatse Tashilhunpo Monastery

Day5. Shigatse / Nyemo Valley / Damxung

After breakfast, drive to Nyemo Valley to see nomads and farmers and nature; there are no tourists (this will be a highlight for the day, so you can spend lots of time and then drive to Yangpachen hot spring pool and you can decide to go to or not by paying entrance fees directly at there and move to Damxung on the way you will see Mt. Tanggu-la (7500m)and stay a night in a 2-star hotel. 360km ) 7hrs ( 4400m)

May 15th: Mount Everest & Namtso Lake 10 Day!

Day6. Damxung / Namtso Lake / Lhasa

After breakfast, drive through grasslands to Namtso Lake, “Heavenly Lake.” Before getting to the lake, we will go through the (Largen la pass (5200m) to see the view of the lake from far away and then still drive about 35km to reach the Lake. Spend the afternoon along the lakeside, and later go back to Lhasa. Happy nomad families dwelled in their cozy yak wool tents on the grassy pastures, and some close to the road were visitable for having a new experience; before reaching Lhasa, the fertile valleys are nice looking with villages and their orthogonal fields. ( 310km ) 6hrs ( 3650m)

Ganden monastery

Day7. Lhasa /Tidrum nunnery Hot spring

Today, we started traveling to Ganden monastery, the most important monastery in the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism. The highlight will be the 1-2 hour hike from the backside of the mountain to see the whole Ganden valley. Since there is only a vehicle trip on most of the tours to make the tour unique, arranging the hiking tour is one of Tibet Travelers' specialties for the Travelers. The hiking route is also known as the pilgrim kora route for the local Tibetans. Very few Travelers can be seen, so it's unique. We will also visit the tomb of Tsongkapa, the Throne of Ganden, the Great Hall of Ganden Monastery, and Ganden Tsogchen, where monks perform prayers. 

Later, we traveled to Drigung Til Monastery, the main monastery of Drigung Kagyu School in Buddhism in Tibet. The monastery is famous for being the best sky burial in Tibet, but travelers are not allowed to visit it. From Drigung, we will travel to Tidrum nunnery Hot Spring. Tidrum is the meditation area of Maha Guru Rinpoche. ( 160km ) 5hrs ( 4300m)

Tidrum Hot Spring

Day8. Tidrum / Drak Yerba cave hike / Lhasa

After breakfast, there is an option to hike to the meditation cave of Maha Guru Rinpoche or the Drak Yerba meditation cave. The duration of the hike to Guru Rinpoche meditation cave is around 2 hours from Tidrum nunnery. This is quite a challenging hike for Travelers who don't do hikes normally.  Travelers can also hike at Drak Yerba meditation cave or return to Lhasa. ( 150km ) 5hrs ( 3650m)

Tidrum Nunnery

Day9. Depart from Tibet

As you depart from Lhasa airport or train station in the morning, it marks the end of your Tibet tour, bidding farewell to your guide and driver. We anticipate your return to Tibet in the future.
