Shigatse is the second-largest city in the Tibet Autonomous Region after Lhasa.

Located 280 km from Lhasa towards the south.

They are many 3-star hotels in Shigatse. Two of the popular hotels are the Manasarovar Hotel and Shigatse Hotel.

3. Sakya

Sakya is located about 150 km from Shigatse and around 40-50 km from Lhatse.

Another popular town in Shigatse prefecture is Tingri. They are two towns named after Tingri.

Old Tingri, also known as Gangkar in the local language, is located around 60 km from the Mount Everest base camp and New Tingri.

Another name of New Tingri is Shegar. The town where Travelers will stay a night is Pelber, around 10 km from Sheger.

The new Town before the Nepal border is Kyirong. The old town between the Nepal border was Zhangmu, which was closed after the earthquake effect in Nepal and the border.

This new border was open for Travelers in the year 2017 August.

6. Saga 

Saga is located about 450 km from Shigatse and around 400 km from Mount Kailash.

Saga is one of the last towns located in Shigatse prefecture near western Tibet Ngari Prefecture.

3-star Saga Hotel is one of the best in town. The price of the room is around 200-350 RMB depending on the season.
