Normally it is quite difficult to get a soft sleeper even on the internet, the hard sleeper is easier to buy.

Trip App supported English, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Indonesian, Malay, Vietnamese, Polish, and Japanese languages.

Steps of buying the train ticket from internet App Trip 

1. Download  App Trip.
2. Need to register with Facebook, Google, or Wechat.
3. On the home page, select Flight ticket or Train ticket.
4. Choose the date and destination to and from.
5. Price will be shown in US Dollars or according to the currency in the language.
6. Select the type of seats.
7. Select Book.
8. Add the name of Travelers on the passport, passport number, and date of birth.
9. If the names are too long, Travelers can delete each name from the last until allows to save.
10. Add the contact details including the Name, Email, and phone number. 
11. Travelers can choose to select the ticket delivery but it's safer to pick the tickets by Travelers at the train station. 
12. Select pay and add the bank details, they accept AMEX, Union Pay, Visa, and JCB cards. 
13. After the payment, the App will send a text message with the E-ticket ( Electronic ticket number or if you book in advance, they will send a message with a reservation of tickets. The actual tickets confirmation date will be sent. If the app is unable to buy the tickets, they will refund the full amount.

How to buy a train ticket at the Train station?

1. Travelers can stay on the line of the counter, choose the date and destination.
2. Once the counter service confirms the availability of the tickets.
3. Travelers can pay the tickets in cash or credit card payments via showing the passport scan or original passport, and Tibet Travel Permit.

Train tickets are sold around 28 days in advance at the train station counter.

How to cancel the Train ticket from the APP?

If the train ticket is not taken out from the train station, Travelers can cancel around a day before departure via pressing the cancel button from the App and will be refunded 80 percent of the ticket fee. If the ticket is taken out from the train station, Travelers can also cancel at the Train station via showing the Train ticket and original passport or scan. The refund money will be sent directly to the bank account in 24 hours.

How to cancel the Train ticket from the Train station?

If the train ticket is bought from the Train station. Travelers can cancel the ticket around a few hours before departure or even earlier at the train station via showing the ticket and original passport or scan. Travelers will be refunded 95 percent of the ticket fee.

Conclusion

The train to Tibet is one of the best trains in China with air condition. The soft sleeper has 4 comfortable beds with a door and a big window. A soft sleeper is quite hard to buy especially in the high season from May to October. 

The hard sleeper has 6 beds and it's comfortable. There are a big window and a table with a chair opposite. A hard sleeper is easier to buy as compared to the soft sleeper. 

Hard seat is quite difficult to adjust for Travelers since the altitude and long journey. 

The best train ride is from Xining or Lanzhou to Lhasa with a duration of 23 hours. 

There is already a train from Lhasa to Shigatse. The new train route from Lhasa to Tsetang and to Nyingchi eastern Tibet is almost finished.

The train ticket soft sleeper cost around 200 US Dollars per ticket. The hard sleeper cost around 100 US Dollars per ticket.  The price is written on the tickets.
