Choosing local food while traveling in Tibet will give an excellent impact help on local business.

This time Tibet Travelers brings a great local Tibetan Restaurant in the old town around 100 meters from Jokhang Temple.

This cozy local Restaurant namely Penz Patata is found by our recent Travelers from New Zealand.

They love the food so much that they would like to share it with fellow Travelers.

“Penz Patata Restaurant was a wonderful find in Lhasa old town, located down a small side street off one of the main tourist streets.  It sells all shapes and styles of Tibetan potatoes, deep-fried and tossed in an array of spices, herbs, chili sauces, and julienned vegetables – you choose!!!

After having to spend a week in Tibet, this little gem of a bright, funky, new restaurant was some light relief to the other fantastic Tibetan food we had been eating.

We went with the recommendation of the owner, a young and vibrant local woman, who spent time studying in Chengdu, and recently returned home to start her business.

It was so good (as you can see from the pictures) we went back for seconds, this time trying out a different herb and spice combo.  All washed down with a complimentary sweet tea!

Prices were great - a large pot priced at 15RMB and a small for 8RMB. (Around 1-2 USD)

I could go on about the noodles too, but will let you find out for yourselves!  I’m sure you will enjoy it as much as we did!!!

Penz Patata Restaurant is a great local restaurant with many special potato foods.

The foods in the restaurant are around 1-2 USD

The Restaurant is very close to Tibet Travelers central hotel for Travelers 3-star Kyichu hotel. Travelers can visit the restaurant with the help of our Tour Guide.
