1. Where is Tibet?

Tibet Autonomous Region is one of the provinces of China, located on the roof of the world with an average altitude of 4,500m above sea level and surrounded by many high mountains.

3. Can Travelers travel to Tibet on their own?

Travelers are not allowed to travel to Tibet on their own. Travelers will need a Tibet Travel Permit to travel. Travel agencies are not allowed to sell only the Tibet Travel Permit. Travelers must be on an organized Tour from a local Travel agency. 

4. When to travel to Tibet?

It is possible to travel to Tibet starting from January to the end of the year. March is training month for Tour Guides so we are not arranging tours in March at the moment. 

The best months of stunning nature are from July to September.

The beginning of the May 1st festival for 6 days, July, August, and the beginning of the October 1st festival for 7 days are the most crowded tourist season.

The end of October to the February of next year is the off-season and fewer Travelers will travel to Tibet because of winter cold. The weather is sunny most of the time during winter.

17. How are the hotel facilities in Tibet?

They are many 2-3-4-star hotels and a few 5-star hotels in Lhasa and Shigatse. Two of the 5-stars hotel in Lhasa are St.Regis and Shangri-La Hotel. They are also a few 3-star hotels in Gyantse, Nyingchi, Tsetang, and western Tibet Ngari. There is also one 3-star hotel in Darchen town near Mount Kailash. In most of the other places, it will be a 2-star hotel or guest house.

They are a few western-style Restaurants in Lhasa, Gyantse, and Shigatse. Outside of Shigatse, it is mostly local Tibetan food. There is also a few Muslim Restaurant in Lhasa and Shigatse for Muslim Travelers. They are many coffee shops in Lhasa.

They are 4-5 banks in Tibet and many ATM machines.

They are ATMs in Gyantse, Shigatse, Lhatse, Saga, Darchin, Tada, Ngari, Purang, Old Tingri, Tsetang, Nyingchi, Damxung, and Pomi. Banks, Money, Currency, and ATMs in Tibet. There is a limit withdrawal of around 4000-6000RMB depending on the traveler's credit card. The only possible withdrawal of cash will be the Chinese Renminbi.

Almost all the hotels offer free WIFI even near Mount Everest and Mount Kailash. 

It is possible to buy the China Telecom sim card using the Tour Guide's ID, the cost is 199RMB per month, around 30 US dollars and Travelers can use as much data as they want.
