2. Paved road to few important highlight sightseeing

Decades ago when I was Tour Guide, there were only 30-40 percent of paved roads in Tibet, now 95 percent of the roads in Tibet are paved. 

There is a paved road until 4km before the Mount Everest Base Camp.

4km was not paved because of care towards snow on Mount Everest.

There is a paved road until the foot of Mount Kailash, Darchin town. 

The road to the Guge Kingdom, Toling, Shangshung Kingdom, and Purang in the western Tibet Ngari are paved by 95 percent.

The road from Lhasa to Namtso lake 240km is paved all the way.

The road from Lhasa to Samye monastery is 200km until Tsetang is paved. 

From Tsetang, the road to Nyingchi is paved 95 percent. 

The road from Lhasa to the Kyirong border between Nepal is paved. 

It is much better to use a comfortable business van since now around 95 percent of the road in Tibet are paved for Travelers. 

3. The railroad from Lhasa to Shigatse 

The Rail route from Lhasa to Shigatse was connected a few years ago making the journey to Shigatse 3 hours faster. The Train duration from Lhasa to Shigatse is around 2 hours 10-20 minutes.

4. The railroad from Lhasa to Nyingchi 

The Railroad from Lhasa to Nyingchi, also known as Lingzhi or Kongpo has constructed a few years ago. 

At the end of 2017, the Rail route from Lhasa to Nyingchi has been completed. 

The routes start from Lhasa and pass through Gonggar town, Dranang town, Tsetang city, Sangri town, Gyatsa town, Nang town, Miling town, and end at Nyingchi with a duration of 402km with 34 stations.

5. The highway from Lhasa to Nyingchi and Tsetang

The highway from Lhasa to Nyingchi and Lhasa to Nyingchi through Tsetang is finishing soon.

The highway from Lhasa to Nyingchi is almost finished, making the journey shorter and more accessible for locals within a few hours. 

The highway makes the sightseeing to Draksum lake much easier by making it a day trip from Lhasa. 

6. Train from Chengdu to Lhasa and Train from Chongqing to Lhasa duration shortened

Qinghai Tibet Railway company has optimized the train duration according to the Travelers. 

The new train duration chart has been implemented in October 2017.

As a result, the train duration from Chengdu to Lhasa and Chongqing to Lhasa has been shortened by seven hours making it very convenient for both Locals and Travelers.

7. The border between Nepal opens

A few years ago because of the earthquake in Nepal. Zhangmu border towards Nepal has been affected by the earthquake, and the border was closed since that day.

August 2017, another border route towards Nepal, known as Kyirong town, located near Tingri is opened for Travelers.  

This route is making it convenient for Travelers to travel through Tibet and Nepal via overland.

8. Tibet Museum closed for 2 Years

Located opposite Norbulingka Palace. Tibet Museum has been open for Travelers many years ago with free entrance fees.

Since a few years ago, Tibet Museum is under construction for two more years.

9. Yunnan to Tibet overland route in construction

Yunnan Deqing Shangri la to Lhasa via overland is one of the favorite routes for Travelers.

This route is not in good condition because of rainy weather effects, so it is in construction on a mission of making it convenient for both Locals and Travelers. 

10. Free Entrance fees for sightseeing starting from Feb 1st to April 30th

Beginning of 2018, the Tibet Tourism office has announced excellent news for Travelers around the world via offering free entrance fees for all the sightseeing in Tibet starting from February 1st to April 30th
