Travelers must apply for a China visa from the Chinese Embassy in larger cities of your country.

To apply for a China visa from the Chinese Embassy in your home country will take around 1-2 weeks usually. 

Some nationals will have 15 days free China visa:

1. Singapore
2. Japan 
3.  Brunei

Travelers from the above three Nations can travel to Tibet for a less than ten days Tibet tour via spending four days in China for connecting flight or train into Tibet.

Travelers from other Nationals will need a China visa to travel to China and Tibet. 

We recommend Travelers not mentioning about traveling to Tibet as some of the Travelers shared that once they mention travel to Tibet, their China visa got rejected.

Tibet Travel Permit

After applying for the China visa, Traveler will need the Tibet Travel Permit to travel to Tibet. 

The same China visa for China is required to apply for Tibet Travel Permit from the Tibet Tourism office in Lhasa, Tibet. 

Tibet Travelers travel agency requests Travelers to book the tour to Tibet at least 20 days in advance, so we have enough time to apply for Tibet Travel Permit. 

Question: Normally Travelers ask how many days it will take to apply for Tibet Travel Permit?

Answer: Tibet Travelers travel agency can apply for Tibet Travel Permit around a month in advance, and we will get the Tibet Travel Permit from the Tourism office in Lhasa, Tibet around 10-15 days before the trip. 

Tibet Tourism office usually won't issue the Tibet Travel Permit in more than two months of advance since the Tibet travel situation changes very often. 

The information and documents required to apply for Tibet Travel Permit are:

1. A scan of a China visa.
2. A scan of the passport.
3. Confirmation of the tour entry date, exit date, and the travel destinations in Tibet.
4. Deposit 50 US dollars through Paypal.

Travelers will have to confirm the cities in China from where Travelers are taking a flight or train into Tibet. This information will be written in the Tibet Travel Permit and Travelers can travel into Tibet from the China city which is listed in the Tibet Travel Permit. 

Travelers will have to confirm the exact entering date and exit date to Tibet.

The entering date to Tibet and exit date to Tibet will be written on the Tibet Travel Permit. Travelers are allowed to travel into Tibet on the written entering date and must leave Tibet on the written exit date.

The travel destination places in Tibet are also written on the Tibet Travel Permit. Travelers are allowed to travel only to the sites in Tibet which are written on the Tibet Travel Permit. 

Travelers will need the original Tibet Travel Permit to board the flight to Tibet, so we usually mail the Tibet Travel Permit to a hotel in China.

We request Travelers to stay a night in other cities in China in a hotel near the airport to pick up the original Tibet Travel Permit.

Travelers will only need the scans of the Tibet Travel Permit and name list to board the train into Tibet from China.

We request Travelers to print the scans of Tibet Travel Permit and the name list ( 2 papers ) best in color or black and white to buy the train tickets and to board the train into Tibet.
