Tibet Travel from Europe | Trip to Chengdu | 13 Travelers Photography Tours 2025
1. Europe to Chengdu to Lhasa City
Travel to Tibet from Europe Trip Photography Tour 2025! Our travelers took a flight exceeding ten hours from Europe to Chengdu, followed by a connecting flight to Lhasa City, Tibet, with a five-hour layover at Chengdu Tianfu Airport. The planning proceeded smoothly, given the five-hour duration at Chengdu Tianfu Airport. The travelers arrived at Terminal 1 of Chengdu Tianfu Airport, which is designated for international arrivals, while the domestic terminal is Terminal 2.
The Tibet travel client arrived at Chengdu Tianfu Airport on July 23rd at approximately 5:30 am. After completing check-in and registration, and considering a 10-15 minute walk from the aircraft to Terminal 1, I met the travelers around 7 am. Subsequently, we proceeded to the China Telecom office, located approximately 30 meters from the terminal on the right side near the currency exchange counter.
There are three options available for obtaining a SIM card at the China Telecom office: a 7-day, 15-day, and 30-day plan. The three different durations offer approximately 20, 30, and 60 GB of internet data, respectively. The cost ranges from approximately 10 to 30 USD and can be paid exclusively in Chinese RMB. After obtaining the SIM card, we proceeded to Terminal 2 to board the domestic flight to Lhasa. I provided the Tibet travel permit to our travelers. They acquired their boarding passes by presenting their passports and Tibet travel permits at the airline counter. Given the lengthy flight from Europe, travelers took a one-hour coffee break at the airport and subsequently boarded the flight to Tibet from Chengdu.
It was noted that power bank battery chargers are not permitted onboard the plane. The only power banks allowed are the triple CCC-rated 100W-2000W devices. Accordingly, we advise travelers not to bring large power bank batteries, as they must be left at the airport or mailed to Lhasa, a process that takes approximately 4-7 days. Therefore, we recommend refraining from bringing power banks on the trip within China, given the reliable electricity supply available in Tibet. All hotels, restaurants, and cafes offer complimentary charging facilities with your charger. Additionally, travelers may purchase a power bank in Lhasa for approximately 10 USD. We are available to assist.
2. Lhasa Sightseeing for 3 Days
Our Travelers were promptly picked up by our friendly Tibetan Tour Guide and Tour Driver at the Gonggar Airport in Lhasa City. The drive from Lhasa City Airport to downtown Lhasa takes about 1 hour. On the first day, recognizing the long travel to Tibet journey from Europe, they had just undertaken, the travelers chose to take it easy, resting comfortably at their hotel to acclimate and recharge for the days ahead.

From there, they were driven to the cozy, Tibetan-style hotel, 1 Gold Star Shambhala Palace. During their three-night stay in Lhasa, they explore iconic sites such as the Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Potala Palace, and Norbulingka Palace.
The following morning, Day 2, the Tibet tour group began their sightseeing with visits to the Jokhang Temple and Bhakor Street in the historic old town of Lhasa.

This day on the Tibet trip was especially memorable, as they enjoyed a relaxing stop at Gamchung, a beloved local tea house renowned for serving the best sweet milk tea in the city, where locals often gather to socialize.
After a delightful lunch, the travelers continued their trip to Tibet from Europe with a visit to Sera Monastery, famous for its engaging debate sessions among monks—an enchanting display of monastic life.

On Day 3, July 25th, the group had an early morning tour of Tibet booked to experience the breathtaking sunrise over the Potala Palace.

Securing tickets in advance was fortunate, as the palace is in high demand during the high season in July.

During their visit, the tourists received warm admiration from locals who eagerly wanted to capture memorable photos with them, as they often do with visitors from afar.

After marveling at the grandeur of Potala Palace, the Tibet tour continued to Norbulingka Palace, nestled amid lush natural surroundings that added to its serene beauty. The three-day Tibet trip in Lhasa concluded on a high note, leaving travelers with cherished memories of their cultural exploration and scenic experiences in Tibet.

Following the exploration of Sakya, the journey proceeds towards Pelber Town, situated just 12 kilometers from New Tingri Shegar. Here, our travelers will spend the night at the Everest Hotel, also known as Qomolangma Hotel. This well-regarded accommodation stands out for its comfortable oxygen rooms designed to assist visitors in acclimating to high altitudes. It is considered one of the best lodgings in the area. As the day comes to a close, our Tibet trip group prepares to rest and recharge for the Tibet adventures yet to come on this exciting Tibetan expedition.
5. Pelber to Mt. Everest BC Day 6
Today is July 28th, marking the exciting beginning of our Tibet trip adventure for European Travelers. One of the most anticipated highlights of this trip is our travelers' visit to the iconic Mount Everest Base Camp, a destination that is known as the roof of the world.
Today, travelers from Europe will begin their Tibet trip adventure in Pelber town, heading to Mount Everest base camp. The driving duration is 2.5 hours, covering a total of 110 kilometers. This morning, the weather was a bit unsettled, with some light rain, sparking hope among everyone for improved conditions in the afternoon so we can fully enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the world's highest mountains from Gawula Pass.

After a scenic one-hour drive from Pelber, our Tibet trip adventure continues as we arrive at the entrance of Mount Everest National Park. Once there, our travelers purchase their entrance tickets, symbolically opening the door to this incredible landscape.

The trip to Tibet from Europe then takes us toward the nearby Gawu La Pass, also known as Kyu Wu Kha Pass, which stands at an impressive altitude of 5,198 meters. From this vantage point, travelers get a stunning view of the surrounding peaks and the vast Himalayan wilderness. Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy, and travelers were unable to see the snow-capped mountains. We hope they will get a clearer view when they return to Shigatse from Mount Everest Base Camp tomorrow.

Following a brief, invigorating hike near the pass, our group will descend into Tashizom town. This charming town serves as the eco-friendly bus station for Mount Everest Base Camp and is notably the hometown of our Tibet Travelers Manager, Tenzin. From Tashizom, it’s approximately a 1- to 2-hour scenic drive covering around 40 kilometers to reach the base camp itself—a vital milestone on this extraordinary 10-day Tibet adventure.

Upon arriving at the base camp, we've arranged accommodations at the renowned Rongbuk Monastery Hotel, which provides comfortable lodging and special oxygen-enriched rooms from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am to help guests acclimate and rest during their stay. This strategic placement ensures that our travelers are well-supported at high altitudes, making their experience both safe and memorable.

Unfortunately, the weather was overcast, and travelers were unable to observe Mount Everest today. We remain hopeful that they will have a clearer view tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.

6. Mt. Everest BC to Shigatse Day 7

This day holds special significance for our expedition, as it symbolizes the culmination of our anticipation, efforts, and the collective spirit of adventure that has brought us here.

Today, travelers from Europe will begin their Tibet trip adventure in Mount Everest base camp, heading to Shigatse City. The driving duration is 6 hours, covering a total of 334 kilometers.

Our travelers awaken approximately at 7 am to observe Mount Everest from the window of their room at the Mount Everest Base Camp Rongbuk Hotel. The weather was overcast, which caused concern among us all. Our dedicated European travelers have invested a great deal—time, money, and heartfelt hopes—into this trip to witness the awe-inspiring majesty of Mount Everest, the world's highest peak and a symbol of natural grandeur.

In the morning, eager to stay informed about the weather conditions that could impact our plans, we checked the hourly forecast for Rongbuk during our Tibet trip. Initially, the clouds shrouded the mountain in a veil of gray, which caused a moment of concern among us. Yet, as the morning progressed, hope blossomed anew.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to Mount Everest for graciously sharing its beauty with our cherished travelers on this Tibet trip.

Our esteemed European travelers visited the Rongbuk Monastery and captured some remarkable photographs of Mount Everest's north face from one of the highest monasteries on Earth, the Rongbuk Monastery.

Truly, this has been a day to remember—a testament to the wonders of nature and the power of hope and perseverance in travel. Hope you enjoyed this longer, more detailed account of our remarkable Tibet trip day.

On this memorable day, our travelers will also have the opportunity to visit local nomads along the way as we venture into the tranquil Shug La Valley.

This area remains largely untouched by tourism, offering a serene and authentic experience of the Tibetan landscape and culture.

We have thoughtfully designed this itinerary to include less-visited, calm nature, ensuring our valued travelers enjoy both the thrill of high-altitude exploration and the tranquility away from crowds.

Weather permitting, we also plan to have a delightful picnic amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Tibet adventure, allowing everyone to relax and soak in the majestic views.

Additionally, our journey today includes a visit to the hot springs near Damxung town, a perfect spot to unwind.

Approximately a 20-minute drive from Yangpachen, a beautiful indoor and outdoor hot spring pool awaits our valued European travelers.

They had a wonderful time relaxing in the hot spring. It is approximately 50 km to Damxung town from the hot spring, a 1-hour drive.

We are delighted that our European travelers finally had the opportunity to unwind in Tibet's cherished hot spring pools.

On the way to Damxung town, our travelers pass by the majestic Mount Nyenchen Tanglha, which stands at an elevation of 7162 meters. This breathtaking mountain is revered as a deity by locals.

We will be staying at the 2-star Holy Goat Hotel in Damxung, which provides comfortable accommodations as we continue our exploration of this extraordinary region en route to Namtso Lake tomorrow.

Travelers have ample time exploring the mesmerizing Namtso Lake before returning to Lhasa, where they have additional free time to explore the city at their leisure. Accommodation is provided at the comfortable 1 Gold Star Shambhala Palace.
9. Lhasa to Chengdu, China Tour
Today is August 1st, 2025, marking the final day of our memorable European travelers' Tibet tour adventure. The journey began with a scenic transfer of approximately 63 kilometers, roughly an hour's drive, from Tibet to Lhasa Gonggar Airport. From there, travelers boarded a flight to Chengdu, which lasted about 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Upon arrival at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport around midday, we transferred to our accommodation at the elegant 4-star Diamond Bolinghui Hotel, conveniently located near the Chengdu Panda Base West Gate Subway Station.

After settling in and freshening up, we opted to explore the city further, taking the metro to the vibrant downtown area. There, we enjoyed local cuisine, indulged in shopping, and leisurely strolled through the bustling streets, soaking in the lively atmosphere.

The day was filled with plenty of walking, sightseeing, and discovering the rich culture and charm of Chengdu, making it a truly enriching experience for all involved.

10. Chengdu, China Tour
Our travelers spend several days exploring Chengdu, immersing themselves in some of the city’s most iconic sights and cultural experiences. Their journey begins with visits to the renowned Chengdu Panda Base, the majestic Leshan Giant Buddha, and an exploration of the vibrant city of Chengdu itself.

The Chengdu Panda Base is conveniently located approximately 3 kilometers from the hotel, making it easily accessible for our group. We traveled there comfortably via our China Tour Bus. During the summer months, when temperatures soar above 35°C, the pandas are typically kept indoors in climate-controlled rooms to ensure their comfort. Only when the weather cools below 26°C do the pandas venture outdoors, allowing visitors to observe these adorable creatures in their natural environment.

Pandas are the national symbol of China, and great care is taken to protect and nurture them. Their cuteness is truly astonishing, and at ages of around 3 to 4 years, pandas are comparable to teenagers of about 17 to 18 years in human years. Since pandas prefer solitude, most of them have their own spacious, air-conditioned enclosures. During our visit, we had the opportunity to see approximately 12 pandas, each with their unique personality.

We traveled approximately two and a half hours by bus to reach the Leshan Giant Buddha. On the way, we stopped in Leshan city for a delightful lunch featuring local cuisine, which was highly enjoyed by our travelers. The weather in July was quite hot, with temperatures ranging from 35°C to 38°C.

A new scenic pathway now allows visitors to hike down to the base of the Leshan Giant Buddha's feet, a trek that takes roughly 30 minutes downward and about 1 to 2 hours to return up.

Some travelers chose to descend and take photos at the foot of the statue, while others preferred to stay at the top to enjoy the breathtaking views of the three rivers converging near Leshan.

Many visitors also took time to relax near the Leshan Giant Buddha temple, soaking in the serene atmosphere.

To wrap up our adventure, we gathered for a farewell dinner, sharing memories and expressing gratitude for a successful trip. Everything went smoothly, and we are delighted that our travelers left feeling very satisfied with our services.

Thank you for reading about our Tibet and Chengdu trips with China Tour. We look forward to sharing more incredible journeys with you in the future.
