Traveling to Tibet via Train from Europe

Traveling via train is another beautiful way to travel. We have met Travelers from Europe, who had traveled all the way to Tibet via train.

We ask them questions about how they managed to travel all the way to Tibet via train from Europe?

The answer was, taking a train from Europe to Russia, from Russia to Mongolia from Mongolia to China, and finally from China to Tibet. 

It took them around 3-4 weeks to travel but they told us that it was one of the best experiences in their life. 

The train journey to Tibet is a great experience. They are many trains each day from many cities in China to Tibet. 

The shortest train journey is from Golmud to Lhasa, with a duration of 16 hours. Another good destination for traveling via train from China is through Xining, which is around 23 hours duration. Travelers can also travel via train from Xi An, Chengdu, Chongqing, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Lanzhou.

The train from China to Tibet is one of the best trains with air-condition and comfortable beds.

Tibet Train Ticket

Tibet train tickets can be purchased on the official site of the state-owned China Railway(www.12306.cn) 60 days in advance. The Tibet train tickets sell out quickly all year long. Send us an email in advance with the scan of your passport so we can secure the train ticket for you, around CNY 100RMB - 500RMB will be added to the service fee depending on the season. It is almost impossible to buy a Tibet train ticket at the train station on the spot after your arrival in China so contact us in advance.

Usually, after we book your Tibet Train ticket, we will forward you an  ETicket with an order number on it. With this order number & your original passport and the scan of the permit which we will scan for you and you can print, with these 3 pieces of info, you can exchange to the actual paper ticket at the ticket booth of any train station in China.

Travelers can pick up the train ticket at least 1 or a few days in advance from the train station, Ticket is already paid for through us so do not pay at the train station. You can pay to us the trip fee. We will need some deposit to buy the train ticket for you.

After arriving in Lhasa, Tibet, there is another option to take the train from Lhasa to Shigatse. Which is also a beautiful journey to explore the train via enjoying the beautiful Yarlung Tsangpo river along the way. The duration of the train ride is around 2 hours 20 minutes. At the moment Train route from Lhasa to Kongpo, Nyingtri region via Tsetang region is in construction and it will be finishing soon after a few years. Slowly we are hoping that a train route from Tibet to Nepal will be possible in the future so Travelers can travel from Europe to Nepal via Russia, Mongolia, China, and Tibet.
