1. Travelers are not allowed to travel in Tibet on your own
Tibet is becoming one of the popular destinations in our world. Unlike many places in China and Nepal, Travelers are not allowed to travel to Tibet on their own. Travelers will need a Travel agency in Tibet to organized the trip to Tibet.
Travel agencies are not allowed to sell only the Tibet Travel Permit since Tibet Travel Permit is free of charge.
Travelers must be on an organized Tour.
Even though sometimes Travelers want to stay in a hotel or walk around Lhasa without using the Tour Guide for sightseeing, Travelers must pay every day for Tour Guide fee of around 40-70 US dollars depending on the season as Tibet travel rules and regulations.
2. Travelers will need 2 documents to travel to Tibet
Even though Tibet Autonomous is a border destination between Nepal, China, India, and Bhutan but only from Nepal and China, Travelers are allowed to enter or travel into Tibet.
They are 2 important documents Travelers will need to travel into Tibet.
1. China visa
2. Tibet Travel Permit
If Travelers are planning to travel into Tibet from Nepal, Tibet Travelers will take care of both China group visa and Tibet Travel Permit.
Travel to Tibet from Nepal
China group visa fees for US and Canadian citizens will cost 200 US dollars per person.
China group visa fee for other National costs 110 US Dollars per person.
The above-listed China group visa fees are including the service fees of the Nepal Travel agency of Tibet Travelers.
China visa is much easier to obtain if Travelers are traveling to Tibet from Nepal.

Travel to Tibet from China
If Travelers are planning to travel to Tibet from China, Travelers have to issue a China visa at the Chinese embassy in the bigger city in their home country before applying for Tibet Travel Permit from Tibet Travelers.
Without a China visa, Tibet Travelers cannot issue the Tibet Travel Permit from the Tourism office in Lhasa, Tibet.

3. Tibet Travel Permit will be available from April 1st
Every year Tibet travel season will start from April 1st to the mid of next year February so we recommend all the Travelers who are planning to travel to Tibet during March postpone the trip to April or later.

Summer in Tibet starts from June to September.
Autumn in Tibet starts from October to the beginning of November.

4. Places that are open for Travelers to travel
Tibet Travel regulation is getting better every year and many places in Tibet are now open for Travelers to witness the beauties. Still few places in eastern Nyingchi, southern Tsetang, western Tibet far Changtang area are not open for Travelers.
The route from Chengdu to Lhasa and Yunnan to Lhasa is not open for Travelers at the moment.
Travelers who love traveling to Tibet overland from China can travel from Golmud to Lhasa or Xinjiang to western Tibet.

6. Advance booking required to obtain China visa and Tibet Travel Permit
As we have mentioned above, traveling to Tibet needs 2 important documents. China visa and Tibet Travel Permit.
To obtain these documents from the Chinese Embassy and Tibet Tourism office takes time so we highly recommend Travelers to book the trip to Tibet at least a month in advance if Travelers haven't got the China visa.
If Travelers already have a China visa, we recommend booking the trip to Tibet at least 20 days before to get the Tibet Travel Permit on time.
